Assistant Lecturer in Swedish in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures (Ref.: 522240) (to commence on August 15, 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and availability of funding)


Applicants should possess a B.A. degree and relevant Master’s degree with proven expertise in the teaching of Swedish to non-native speakers plus at least 3 years’ of teaching experience in tertiary education. They should be native or near native speakers of Swedish and possess excellent communication skills in English. They should also be conversant with current trends in language teaching and assessment. The appointee is expected to teach a number of different courses at various levels, and develop new courses and design assessment materials. Applicant with a relevant PhD and ability to teach Scandinavian languages will have an advantage. This position will also include Swedish cultural promotion and overall administrative work for the Swedish programme. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
