Profile

Izumi Nakayama is a historian of modern Japan and East Asia. Using the body as a lens, she explores interpretations of physiological, neurological, and sensorial experiences in the fields of labour, science, technology, and medicine. Her other research interests include biohacking and bioethics, food studies, and visual cultures and archives.
